The LARGEST HYBRID YACHT EVER BUILT
When Benetti launched FB272 M/Y Luminosity in 2020, her overall length of 107.6 metres represented the largest hybrid megayacht ever built to date. Her advanced diesel-electric naval propulsion system comprises six 1000kW generators that power two 2200 kW ABB Azipods, while her 3 megawatt/h lithium polymer battery bank provides up to 14 hours of zero-emission power when the generators switched off.
HYBRID TECHNOLOGY DESIGNED to DELIVER UNPARALLELED COMFORT
The FB272 M/Y Luminosity can cruise in full electric zero emission mode, covering between 12 and 15 nm and gaining access to SECA areas (Sulfur Emission The FB272 M/Y Luminosity can cruise in full electric zero-emission mode, covering between 12 and 15 nautical miles. Her environmental credentials allow her privileged access to Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA), where strict controls are in place to minimise damage to the marine ecosystem from emissions such as SOx, NOx, ODSs and VOCs.
She can stay at anchor for up to 6 hours during daytime and up to 14 hours at night with the generators switched off, allowing the owner and guests to enjoy vibration-free total comfort and avoiding CO2 emissions entirely. Forward-facing logic has been applied to the battery bank so that as new-generation variants are developed over the years, they will be able to be incorporated to extend generator-free hours.
